Directorate of Regulatory Services
This is another core Directorate which is responsible for the regulatory aspects of the authority. It is responsible for the provision of licensing services, inspection and authorization services and also civic education. Directorate also act as a repository of the authority’s information
The purpose of the Directorate is to provide regulatory services
The functions of the Directorate is as follows
  • The provision of licensing and authorization services
  • The inspection and enforcement of standards attached to permits.
  • The provision of civic education and data bank
The Directorate is organized into two Divisions and one Section as follows:
    a. Licensing and Authorization Division- It is responsible for
  • The definition of license detailed conditions and financial obligations, to be placed on the licensee.
  • The establishment of procedures for licensing. The review and assessment of application for any institution requiring water abstraction, easement and discharge of effluent.
  • The management of all information data bank of the Authority related to regulatory services.

    b. Inspection and Enforcement Division-It is responsible for:
  • The development and implementation of an inspection programme, and monitoring compliance.
  • The implementation of enforcement policy for responding to non-compliance.
  • The recommendation for amendment or development of regulations

    c. Civic Education Section- It is responsible for:
  • The conducting of civic education
  • The collection and dissemination of information on the work of authority.
