Kamuzu Barrage Management Unit
This is headed by the Director of KBMU who report directly to the Executive Director of the Authority. The office of this unit is located in the Shire Catchment Area but the Director reports directly to the Executive Director
The Purpose of KBMU is to manage the Lake Malawi-Shire River Hydrological System
To achieve the above functions, the unit carries out the following functions:
- The operation and maintenance of the Barrage
- The management of aquatic weed
- The management of hydrometric network operations
- The management of hydrologic modelling and flood forecasting
